Son charged with murder of mother at Galway home

An application for bail on a charge of murder can only be made before the High Court
Dubravko Ostojic, with an address at 52 Claí Mór, Ballybrit, is charged with the murder of Milena Ostojic at 52 Claí Mór, Ballybrit on April 24, 2026, contrary to Common Law.
At Galway District Court, Detective Garda Gerry Carroll gave evidence of arrest, charge and caution and the court heard the accused made no reply to the charge after caution.
Court presenter, Sergeant Claire Heneghan said the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) directed prosecution on indictment in the Central Criminal Court.
Ostojic was previously charged with assault causing harm to his mother, contrary to section 3 of the Non Fatal Offences Against The Person Act.
Sgt Heneghan said the DPP directed that charge be withdrawn and Judge Fiona Lydon struck out the charge.
The accused was represented by solicitor John Martin who told the court he was not applying for legal aid given the ongoing legal aid dispute between solicitors and Department of Justice.
Judge Lydon remanded the accused in custody to appear in court, via video link, on September 7.
An application for bail on a charge of murder can only be made before the High Court.
