COUNTY COUNCIL PLANS TO BUILD BAT TUNNEL TO FACILITATE CITY BY PASS

Galway county council is to build a bat tunnel at Coolagh to allow bats cross the proposed new city bypass. The protected species of Lesser Horseshoe Bat as well as other bat fauna roost in various sites across the path of the bypass. The effects of the new road on their survival is being discussed at An Bord Pleanala's oral hearing in Salthill today.
