COUNTY COUNCIL EXPECTS LATE SURGE IN HOUSEHOLD FEE PAYMENT

Date Published: 30-Mar-2012
Galway County Council says it has no immediate plans to go knocking on doors if homeowners do not pay the household charge.
It's expecting a late surge in payments for the 100 euro charge as the deadline for payment of the controversial tax is tomorrow, March 31st.
Over 14 thousand householders from the county had paid the 100 euro household charge by Wednesday, the figure for the city was unavailable.
County Council buildings on prospect are open until 8 this evening to facilitate people paying the charge.
People can also pay the charge at County Council buildings in the city, as well as Tuam, Ballinasloe and Clifden council area offices tomorrow from 10 until 5.
