COUNTY BASED GUARD RECOVERING IN HOSPITAL FOLLOWING LIMERICK ASSAULT

A County based Guard is recovering in hospital this morning after being assaulted in Limerick at the weekend.

The off duty male Guard, who is understood to be stationed in Gort, was assaulted in the St Patricks road area of Limerick at around 3:30 yesterday morning.

Limerick Gardai are investigating and have confirmed no arrests have been made at this stage.

It's understood the man was not targeted because of his occupation, and is being treated in hospital this morning for head injuries.
