Country legends back on broadcaster’s show

One of the best-known broadcasters on the country music scene is back with a new show which airs each Sunday evening on Galway Bay FM.
Country Gold will be presented by the legendary Tom Gilmore who has toured some of country and western’s most famous venues including Nashville’s Grand Ole Opry.
“You won’t hear hits by ZZ Top on this show, but you will hear hits by young Zach Top who is up and coming in the States,” said Tom from Bodane outside Tuam.
The show will be broadcast from 8pm to 9pm each Sunday evening, starting this Sunday and running throughout the summer.
The show will come on air after the main sports programme and will involve Tom talking to country stars young and old in his own inimitable and unintrusive way.
Country music fans will hear from some of the biggest hit makers from the American, Irish, UK, Australian and European scenes through the decades.
They will talk about their hits and what influenced them most in their careers and what they are at now.
Tom’s show will feature iconic hits from the likes of Dolly Parton, Johnny Cash, Garth Brooks, Glen Campbell, Emmylou Harris, Brad Paisley, Big Tom, Daniel O’Donnell, Crystal Gayle, Larry Cunningham, Kris Kristofferson, Martina McBride, Tammy Wynette, Marty Robbins and many more.
As some of these iconic singers have passed away, many interviews were recorded over the decades in places as far apart as Wembley Stadium in London, Nashville, Australia, Sri Lanka and Ireland.
And Tom promises that some of the biggest hit-makers of all time will talk about their careers and their views on the future of the country music business.
