A city councillor is calling for the Environment Minister John Gormley to appoint a senior department official to manage the Water Services Division in light of today's survey on bottled water. It's revealed that the vast majority of households in Galway city are still buying bottled water and that confidence in the local authority has been permanently damaged. Councillor Padraig Conneely put forward a motion last September calling for a Goverment appointed official to take over control of water services here but it has not yet been dealt with by the local City Councillors. It'll be discussed at a special meeting by the Councillors on the 5th November.Councillor Conneely raised the importance of seeking central Government control of Galway's water services after today's H2O survey.
