Council urged to rethink composition of Local Community Development Committee
Galway Bay fm newsroom - The County Council should allow local development companies one position each on the new Local Community Development Committee.
That's according to Fianna Fáil Connemara election candidate MacDara Hosty, who says he's concerned that the proposed make-up of the committee could result in a lack of representation for the people of Connemara.LCDCs are being established nationally under the Local Government Reform Bill 2013 to deal with planning and the oversight of local and community development programmes. The County Council has decided that two seats on the new 15-member LCDC will be contested by four groups: Forum Connemara, Comhar Na nOileán, Galway Rural Development Company and the Free Legal Advice Centre.MacDara Hosty says changes need to be made to ensure that the people of Connemara are represented on the new committee.
