CONTROVERSIAL CORRIB PARK SITE IN CITY TO BE REZONED

Date Published: 26-Mar-2008
A green space in a city housing estate is to be re-zoned as recreation and amenity in an emergency move to prevent the city council from building houses on it. The move was decided at an emergency meeting between residents of Corrib Park and city councillors last night. Residents were outraged to learn of advanced plans by the city council to build six terraced houses on the Corrib Park Neighbourhood Park. They only discovered yesterday that the site's zoned as residential land. Cllr Collette Connolly has put an emergency motion before the city council to change this.
