CONTENTIOUS PHONE MAST GIVEN GO AHEAD IN ORANMORE

A contentious telecommunications mast for Oranmore has been given the go-ahead by the county council. Obelisk Communications Ltd has been granted permission to erect the 24 metre high mast on behalf of phone company Meteor at Rocklands Oranmore on the N18 Limerick Road. Meteor's proposal attracted opposition from the nearby community, with hundreds of Oranmore residents lodging objections to Galway County Council. Councillor Jim Cuddy says it's a disappointing decision.
