Construction to begin on Cill Ciarain turbine
Galway Bay fm newsroom - Construction on a micro wind turbine at Carna/Cill Ciaráin is due to begin within the next week.
County councillors this week agreed the part 8 planning for the turbine and a contractor has already been selected following a tendering process.
The project is thought to cost in the region of 80000 euro and will save an estimated €18,000 in energy costs annually at the Cill Ciaráin water treatment plant.
The work is due to be completed at the end of October.
Councillor Seán Ó'Tuairisg told Galway Bay fm news that the council hope a grant from the SEAI will cover half of the project cost.
