CONSTRUCTION OF CITY ART HOUSE CINEMA TO RESUME

Date Published: 17-Feb-2011

Construction of a six million euro art house cinema in the city is expected to get back on track next month.

Building of the cinema on Lowers Merchants road close to the Quays grind to a halt last Summer, following a city council site inspection.

Developers, Solas picture palace, briefed city council representatives on construction issues at a meeting in city hall last night.

They confirmed that agreement with nearby residents to demolish and re-build a five-bed house, damaged during initial construction, has been reached.

While the new cinema art house is expected to be finished by 2012, development is causing some traffic delays around the Docks area.

City Councillor, Colette Connolly is calling for new transport arrangements to be put in place.
