CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITY DOWN BY 38% IN GALWAY

Construction work in Galway is down by 38% on this time last year.

That's according to a report published today by Link2plans.com (link to plans dot com), a new national index of construction work and planning.

In January and February last year, there were sixty nine planning commencements in Galway, compared to just forty three in the first two months of this year.

Meanwhile, planning applications in Galway are down 24 percent.

One hundred and two applications were made in the first two months of this year, compared to 135 in the same period last year.

Danny O'Shea, managing director of link to plans dot com, says people are more inclined to extend their existing homes
