Connemara Councillor warns of ‘critical’ water levels on Aran Islands

Galway Bay fm newsroom – A Galway County Councillor has warned that water shortages on the Aran Islands are approaching ‘critical' levels. Fianna Fail Connemara Councillor Sean O Tuairisg says that locals are seriously concerned about the ongoing water restrictions on the Islands. The water on Inis Meain is turned on between 10am and 6pm, while the water on Inis Oirr is turned on between 8am and 8pm daily. In a statement to Galway Bay FM, Irish Water says that currently there are sufficient reserves for the Islands, and they are working with Galway County Council to finalise a back-up water supply. Councillor O Tuairisg says that it's very early in the year for stocks to have dropped so low.
