CONCERNS OVER SUSPECTED RAVE GATHERING IN WOODLAWN

Concerns have been raised over a suspected rave party that's due to get underway in Woodlawn this weekend.

Revellers are understood to be gathering in a private field located in the Clooneymorris area where a similar event was held last year.

Local Cllr Tim Broderick says last year's event surprised locals and caused huge disturbance to the nearby residential community, lasting a number of days.

He says such gatherings require adequate security to minimise disturbance and ensure the safety of those attending and the community.

However, a spokesperson for the event told Galway Bay fm news that it's a private party, strictly invite only with all attendees on the list filtered by the main birthday host.

Gardai in Loughrea say the event will be monitored and any breaches to legislation will be dealt with accordingly.

Speaking to Galway Bay fm news, Cllr Broderick says fears are mounting following the events which unfolded at an organised concert in Phoenix Park last weekend.
