Concerns have been raised over the opening of the new inner relief road for the Tuam area.

Councillor Sally Ann Flanagan has queried whether it can go ahead in advance of the forthcoming traffic management plan.

The name of the road was also called into question at this week's meeting of the authority.

'It will open when it is ready', was the reply that Director of Services, Mr. Frank Gilmore gave to Councillor Flanagan.

Councillor Paul O'Grady quipped that it should be called 'Joe O'Toole Boulevard' as he had funded the project but the meeting heard that no decision has been taken on naming the new road.
