There's concern this evening over the Occupy Galway movement which has erected a much larger tent in Eyre Square.

It's believed the large open gazebo-style tent is for information purposes and not for living in.

The Occupy movement is also re-erecting a fence of palettes around their group of tents which has moved from near the tourism kiosk, to near Richardsons corner on the other side of the fountain.

A cycle rack was also removed from Eyre Square yesterday as part of arrangement made between the Christmas market and the Occupy Galway movement.

A spokesperson for the city council said they had "no comment" to make on the matter this evening but they were continuing to liaise with Gardai on the issue.

City councillor Padraig Conneely says it's not good enough and has lodged a formal complaint to the Gardai and the City Council on the matter.
