CONCERN OVER NOISE DISTURBANCE AFTER GMIT FRESHERS PARTY

Date Published: 20-Sep-2012

Residents have raised concerns over possible noise distrurbance as the GMIT student Freshers Fest (Moxygen III) is set to get underway in the city this afternoon.

The event which is aimed at new first year third level students is organised by GMIT Students Union and takes place at Galwegians RFC sportsground from 2 to 9pm.

It's a follow on from a similiar GMIT student Moxygen event which was held last March.

Local Mervue resident Yvonne told GalwayTalks that the March event caused noise disturbance into the early hours during the dismantling of the stage and barriers.

Student Union President Joe O'Connor says every effort will be taken to minimise disruption and all derigging should be complete no later than 11pm.
