GALWAY hurling wing back David Collins looks set to miss the entire championship this summer due to the ankle injury which has plagued him since a Railway Cup game last October. The 23-year old former Young Hurler of the Year has been advised by his consultant that he will be unable to train for at least the next two months. Given how long it would take the Liam Mellows clubman to regain full fitness, that has effectively ruled Collins out of playing competitive hurling with either club or county for the remainder of this year.Six months on from going over on his ankle, the bone damage still has not fully healed and he has been forced to tell both team managements that he will be unable to train until mid-July at the earliest.“I kind of knew it myself that it just wasn’t getting better on time and I’ve had to go by the advice of the Consultant,” he told Tribune Sport yesterday. The news comes as a big blow to both Galway and Mellows — so impressed was ..................
