CLAREGALWAY HOTEL HITS OUT AT GOVERNMENT OVER FUEL COSTS

Date Published: 23-Jun-2008
A County Galway hotel has decided to subsidise petrol and diesel costs for Irish holidaymakers to curb the effect of rising fuel costs on Irish tourism.Paul Gill, Owner of the Claregalway Hotel says that he has been driven to this decision because the Government has failed to support Irish hotels hit by rising fuel costs. Mr. Gill says many holidaymakers feel that it is more cost effective to fly to Spain or Portugal, than to holiday at home, where petrol costs are now hitting €1.40 a litre.
