An angling Federation claims that sewage is being collected from private houses and is then illegally discharged into manholes around Tuam.
Members of the Clare River Angling Federation have made a submission to Tuam Town Council asking if measures could be taken to prevent this from happening.
Spokesperson Tommy Casserly told the Town Council that untreated sewage is coming from sites within a 20 mile radius of Tuam.
He claims that it's effectively being pumped into the River Nanny, which is part of the River Clare catchment area.
