Council roads and drainage crews are attempting to alleviate heavy flooding in parts of the city this afternoon.
The worst affected locations include the Spanish Arch, Flood street and Cross Street.
Wolfe Tone Bridge at the Spanish Arch and the Lough Atalia road had to be closed for several hours earlier due to the torrential rain but are both re-open again.
However Cross St ifrom the Dáil Bar to Bridge St. will be closed to traffic from now until approx 6.00pm to allow a clean-up of the area.
Diffucult driving conditions are also reported on the M6 Galway-Dublin motorway where there is a lot of surface water.
Motorists are advised to drive with care until flash flooding subsides.
