CITY MAN CHARGED WITH DOUBLE RAPE

A Galway City man has been charged with the double rape and mugging of a woman near a flats complex in the city last year.The man, who may not be identified, is charged with raping the woman twice during the same incident in a green area adjacent to Walter Macken Flats, Mervue, on August 16 last year.He is also charged with stealing her mobile phone.State solicitor, William Kennedy applied to the court to have the accused remanded in custody to appear before Harristown District Court on Friday next, April 11.Judge Mary Fahy remanded the accused in custody to appear before the remand court in Harristown on Friday.
