City jewellers appeals decision to refuse mural paintwork
Galway Bay fm newsroom - The owner of a city jeweller's has appealed a decision to refuse its plans for retention of shop front signage and mural paintwork.
Galway City Council refused the applicatin from Claddagh Jewellers on Mainguard Street last month due to concerns regarding the city development plan.
The application from Philip Fried of Claddagh Jewellers had sought to retain shop front signage and mural paintwork to elevations.
Last month, city planners refused the retention with concerns that the design, scale, colour scheme and multiplicity of styles would set an undesirable precedent due to the building's location in the city core.
The matter has now been appealed to an Bord Pleanála.
It's due to make a decision in October.
