CITY COUNCILLOR QUESTIONS FLOOD PREVENTION MEASURES AT SEAMUS QUIRKE

Date Published: 08-Jun-2012
City Councillor Padraig Conneely has called on city officials to review the flood prevention measures implemented at the new Seamus Quirke Road project.
It follows heavy rainfall yesterday and last evening which Cllr Conneely says caused over a foot of water to accumulate on the road on the approach to the Corrib Park roundabout.
He says council crews arrived at the scene last evening and bollards were then put in place to divert traffic as part of efforts to manage and relieve the build up of flood water.
His concerns come as Met Éireann is once again predicting heavy rain across the country - with spot flooding likely in many areas.
