The City Council is being urged to employ a caretaker for elderly tenants.Ninety percent of funding for the post was provided in 2007 under the Sustainable Communities Fund, according to Councillor Mary Leahy.Funding was also provided to hire a person to tackle anti-social behaviour in city housing estates and a part-time ethnic liaison officer. These two posts are due to be advertised shortly, after a long delay. However, the City Council has told Councillor Leahy that the position as caretaker for the elderly would not be going ahead.Councillor Leahy is now calling on the City Council to reverse this decision.
