CITY COUNCIL SAYS NO WITHDRAWAL OF CLEANING SERVICES FROM SALTHILL PROM

Date Published: 23-Mar-2012

Galway City Council has refuted claims that weekend cleaning services at Salthill Promenade are to be withdrawn.

It follows fears raised by city councillor Peter Keane that the cleaning service is to be terminated.

He says the promenade is one of the city's most important amenities and as such, should be protected especially at the weekend period:

However, Director of Services Kevin Swift says NO decision has been made to reduce staffing or to terminate the cleaning service in the area.

He says the staff clean the area every morning and will continue to do so following the same daily rota.
