Galway city council is in talks with contractors over costing works on the Seamus Quirke road, which has run into delay.

The road was expected to re-open by Christmas, but now looks like it won't be completed until the end of February.

It's been speculated that the cost of funding the delayed works could be in the region of €1 million.

It's not clear yet if the city council will have to foot the bill as the Department of Transport has already capped its funding for the project.
