CITY COUNCIL GETS GO AHEAD TO STAFF TRANSPORT UNIT

Galway city council has got approval to hire 9 staff for the new Galway Transport Unit, the G-T-UThe council established the unit to implement traffic management initiatives and accelerate the delivery of public transport infrastructure to the city.The GTU will aim to increase the attractiveness of public transport in a bid to ease traffic congestion.The city council and the Department of Transport will jointly fund the unit which is being established for an initial 5 year period.(2008-12)
