CITY COUNCIL GET LEGAL ADVICE ON OCCUPY GALWAY

Date Published: 13-Mar-2012
Galway City Council is to meet its legal team today [Mar 13] to discuss the continued presence of the Occupy Galway camp on Eyre Square.
It follows the passing of two motions at a meeting of the local authority last evening where fresh calls were made to have the campaigners end their protest.
City Councillor Padraig Conneely described the encampment as a “shanty town” which he said was making a mockery of the council on the run up to St Patrick’s Day.
Councillor Terry O’Flaherty passed a separate motion calling on Occupy Galway to voluntarily end its protest like its counterparts in Cork.
