Galway city council is continuing its bid to keep a transient halting site on the Headford road at Carrowbrowne. The County Council refused an application to retain the temporary site on the Curragh Line for 3 years. However, the City Council is now appealling that decision to An Bord Pleanála.The County Council turned down the application because it says the site poses a traffic hazard. The City Council was hoping to accommodate a group of travellers on the site, who have been illegally camped there for several weeks. In an appeal to An Bord Pleanála, the City Council addresses concerns about traffic hazards by submitting a Traffic Impact Assessment.
