Galway city based car dealer Cunningham Higgins has closed down
Owners Joe Higgins & Niall Cunningham confirmed the closure in a statement in the last hour
It's understood approximately 15 people were employed at the car dealership in Ballybrit
Joe Higgins and Niall Cunningham say the reason for the closure is the prolonged recession and the motor industry in Ireland being fraught with difficulties.
They say since the downturn began in the motor business three years ago, they have continually invested personally in the business to keep it afloat and to keep the staff employed.
Niall Cunningham and Joe Higgins will be placing contact information for vehicle assistance on their web site and answering machine.
The statement finishes by saying that after 12 years in business this is a tough horrible decision to have to make.
