Carraroe's Comharchumann Mhic Dara is to benefit from a funding boost of 256 thousand euro towards the purchase of a buidling complex.
Minister of State Dinny McGinley made the announcement this afternoon [Aug 23] as part of a visit to the Connemara area where he also opened a youth course for Comhaltas Ceoltoiri Eireann.
The community based co-operative works to advance community development and local resources in the Connemara Gaeltacht.
The funding will be used towards the purchasing of a building which will then be refurbished as a community hall, Irish summer college and office accommodation.
Speaking from Carraroe, Minister of State for the Department of Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht Dinny McGinley says the new building will be a key piece of Irish language infrastructure for Connemara.
