CALLS FOR INVESTIGATION INTO HSE WEST DEBT WRITE-OFF

A Galway East TD has demanded a full investigation into the HSE West after revelations that it has written off 6 million euro in debt.

The HSE West has confirmed that 18 million euro is due from private health insurers but has not been collected due to delays with consultant paperwork.

At a meeting of the Forum's hospital committee, the HSE stated it had written off 6 million euro of the total.

Galway East Labour TD Colm Keaveney has raised the issue with officials in the Department of Health and says he wants the HSE West to make public its reasons for the write off.
