Electoral boundaries should be redrawn to link Roscommon with Galway.

That's according to independent TD Denis Naughten who has made a submission as part of the Constituency Commission's review.

The Roscommon/South Leitrim TD says there are many important ties between the two counties in the areas of healthcare and industrial development.

Deputy Naughten also argues that the change would also enable the reunification of County Letirm which is now split between Sligo and South Roscommon.

The report on the new constituencies is expected to be published in three months time.

Speaking to Galway Bay fm news, Deputy Naughten says forming a new link between Galway and Roscommon would make up figures for 11 dáil deputies
