CALL TO EXPEDITE SMALL PIER WORKS IN GALWAY

Galway West TD Eamon O'Cuiv is calling on the Marine Minister to announce the list of approved works for small piers throughout the county.

Applications have been lodged by Galway County Council for the funding of work on five piers and are being examined by the Department.

However none have yet been sanctioned.

Deputy O'Cuiv says the delay shows a lack of planning at government level as the selection of tenders and appointment of contractors will be time consuming.

He says the delay in approving the work will mean projects are not likely to commence until Autumn.
