Call to clarify longterm plan for St. Brigids ward in Ballinasloe

Brigid's ward in Ballinasloe.The 22 bed acute pyschiatric unit is to be closed down at the end of this year as part of reconfiguration plans.Under the review, 22 such beds will be maintained in Roscommon with 35 beds in the city.Deputy Connaughton says there was no adequate consultation between families, patients and staff.He says he has informed the Minister for Health and the HSE of shortcomings in the decision making process.Speaking on Galway Talks, Deputy Connaughton says the long-term plan for the acute ward at the end of the year must be clarified
