Call on Gardai to increase patrols of Ballyloughane beach

Galway Bay fm newsroom- Former Mayor of Galway Terry O'Flaherty is asking the Gardai to increase patrols of Ballyloughane beach over the weekend

The call follows complaints from members of the public in relation to gangs drinking and engaging in anti social behaviour on the beach yesterday

Cllr O'Flaherty said the behaviour had a very frightening effect on a number of people particularly on the elderly and those with young children who were there to enjoy the good weather and the facilities

The Gardai called to the beach during the evening and it's understood they confiscated some alcohol

Cllr O'Flaherty says it's important the area is policed in order to stamp out this unruly and yobish behaviour
