City Cllr Ollie Crowe is calling for reduced speed limits in Bohermore after a pedestrian was struck by a car last evening.

The woman, aged in her mid sixties was hit by a car travelling towards the city centre at around 6pm and was taken to University Hospital Galway where she is still being treated for her injuries today.

Gardai say the incident is being investigated.

Cllr Ollie Crowe says it's the second such incident in recent weeks and is calling on city officials to urgently implement a reduced speed limit.

He says it needs to be reduced from the current 50 kilometre threshold to 30 kilometres per hour.
