Galway city and county councils should survey their housing clients to see if people would be prepared to move accomodation to facilitate bigger families. That's according to local senator Fidelma Healy Eames who thinks there may be many people living in local authority houses which are bigger than they need. The Fine Gael Senator says this proposal would help to shorten the long waiting lists for housing in Galway.Senator Healy Eames gives an example of a woman living alone in a three bed council house who would be happy to downsize to smaller accommodation.
