Date Published: 02-Nov-2009
Government intervention is now needed to help save Galway's rural pubs, restaurants and hotels. That's according to President of the Vintners Federation of Ireland, Val Hanley who attended today's launch of a new report by the Drinks Industry Group of Ireland. This is the biggest survey of licensed premises in Ireland and shows a massive drop in sales in the hospitality sector in the last five years.More than 1 thousand 500 pubs, hotels and restaurants have closed their doors since 2004, with most jobs being lost in the last 18 months.
