A councillor is calling for free public buses for schoolchildren in a bid to reduce the traffic gridlock in the city. Cllr Colette Connolly says the cost to the city in terms of work hours lost, people sitting in traffic and Garda and Warden time is enormous. The Labour cllr is looking for support for her motion from city councillors at the next city council meeting. Bus Eireann has confirmed today that Galway schoolbuses will not be affected by the latest reduction in routes. Cllr Connolly says it's up to the council to lobby the Government for funding for free buses
