CALL FOR CENTRALISED FUNDING POT FOR TUAM ORGANISATIONS

Date Published: 04-Oct-2012
As the budgets of Tuam Town Council are very limited, there should be some co-ordinated central funding ‘pot’ for organisations seeking grants according to Cllr Paul O’Grady.
He was responding to applications for funds from Tuam Chamber of Commerce and the Tidy Town Committee.
Director of Services Frank Gilmore said their funds towards Christmas lighting was a very big commitment every year to the Chamber.
He also said that he would need to see a detailed proposal of works to be carried out by the Tidy Towns Committee before any funding could be considered.
Cllr Paul O’Grady said, while they could consider requests, the level of money was not in their budget and even if it sounds ‘outlandish’ with so many demands for funds people will soon have “no money to buy clothes”.
