CALL FOR AGENCY TO DEAL WITH MFG CLOSURE

Date Published: 08-Sep-2011
An interim agency to replace the services of Meitheal Forbatha Teo needs to be set up immediately, according to Galway West Deputy Eamon O'Cuiv.
The chairman and CEO of MFG are expected to hold meetings with POBAL tomorrow in an effort to resolve the current crisis.
MFG employs 15 full time staff at its offices in Indreabhán and Rosmuc, while around 15 are employed through FÁS and work projects.
The decision to close the company, which has workers in seven Gaeltacht regions, was made at a board meeting in Claregalway yesterday.
MFG was set up more than 20 years and helps many start up companies, organisations and groups in the Gaeltacht regions.
