After a highly successful first year, Dusty Banjos returns on January 13 with its traditional music class for beginners.

The class is aimed at adults who are taking up a melody instrument and wish to learn a few tunes, and to play with other people. It is not suitable for complete beginners, but if you can play one or two tunes, or even just a scale, this class should suit you. There is no need to read music, although sheet music will be available. Participants will need their own instruments.

The class will teach a tune per week, building into sets of tunes commonly played in local sessions. The pace will be slow, and the atmosphere relaxed. Classes take place upstairs in the Western Hotel, Prospect Hill, on Thursday evenings from 6.30 to 7.30pm, starting on Thursday, January 13.

The Dusty Banjos Learners Session is now well into its ninth year and going strong.

It’s also back on January 13, and will take place at 7.30pm after the class. New faces are welcome to both class and session, so this is your chance to get cracking on that New Year’s resolution and start playing with other people!
