Brendan Grace gets set for tour after getting medical all-clear

It has been a difficult few weeks for one of Ireland’s best loved comedians Brendan Grace who developed a diabetes-related illness in his foot earlier this month.
There were fears initially that his foot might have to be amputated because of gangrene caused by the Type 2 Diabetes that Brendan has been affected by since 1994.
He had to cancel a number of upcoming pre-Christmas gigs after a visit to the doctor uncovered the serious infection. Happily the legendary comedian was successfully treated and he has been given the go-ahead to begin his annual after-Christmas Irish tour. This runs from December 27 until February 14, taking in two Galway appearances.
Brendan's latest show features some brand new material and some old favourites from his vast repertoire over the last 39 years, including of course, his legendary Bottler character.
His material owes more to the tradition of stand-up-comics then it does to modern alternative humour and is popular with all ages. Part of the reason why Brendan has attracted a younger audience in recent times is because the show is family orientated, and part is because of his hilarious appearance in the cult comedy Father Ted when he played the part of a drinking, smoking, troublemaker extraordinaire Father Fintan Stack.
His show is very much an event for all the family and he is renowned for the time he devotes to fans after each performance, meeting people, posing for photos and signing autographs.
The Dubliner, who now divides his time between Ireland and Florida, will be appearing in the Salthill Hotel on Sunday, January 3, with tickets available from the hotel at 091-522711 and the Shannon Oaks Hotel, Portumna, on Sunday, January 17.
Tickets for that show are available from the Shannon Oaks, at 090 9741777.
