Bishop of Clonfert deconsecrates St. Brigid's chapel
Galway Bay fm newsroom - The Bishop of Clonfert, Dr.John Kirby, has de-consecrated the chapel at St. Brigid's hospital in Ballinasloe.It follows a number of changes made the HSE.
The chapel was opened in 1971 by the late Bishop Thomas Ryan was built to facilitate religious services for the growing number of patients in St. Brigid's hospital.Now with patients being integrated into the community and the numbers at St. Brigid's being reduced dramatically, the HSE has decided the chapel is no longer required.
