10 jobs are to be created in Galway following the establishment of a new composting centre by Barna Waste.

The centre will be based at the existing facility in Carrowbrowne on the Headford Road and is expected to significantly reduce the volume of food waste in the region going into landfill.

Barna Waste is to open the new regional centre next year - in a 6 million euro development that will be the largest composting site in Connacht.

The company currently employs 280 people across the region at facilities in Galway, Roscommon and Leitrim.
