BALLYMONEEN ROAD TO UNDERGO SAFETY IMPROVEMENTS

A ''dangerous stretch of road'' in the Knocknacarra area of the city is to be widened.

A section of the Ballymoneen road, near Sli Gheal estate, which has no public lighting or footpaths, will be upgraded in the coming months.

It follows the City Council's purchase of land to facilitate the work.

Officials are awaiting final documentation of the land transfer before giving the go ahead for work to begin.
