Galway East: 2nd Count - 'Stroke' Fahy eliminated
The second count has been completed in Galway East but there were no changes to the running order with Sean Canney now within 2,600 of the quota but it will be several counts into the evening and night before he is elected.
Independent Cllr Michael 'Stroke' Fahy has now been eliminated and this will probably mark his last ever general election.
Fahy has been a long serving member of Galway County Council representing the Loughrea area.
It is understood that his transfers will go to several candidates but Cllr Anne Rabbitte of Fianna Fail should be the main beneficiary as Fahy is a former member of the party.
