Ballinasloe public meeting to discuss beef crisis

Galway Bay fm newsroom – A public meeting will be held in Ballinasloe next week to discuss possible solutions to the beef crisis. Sinn Féin is hosting the event, which will include a high-level meeting involving farmers and dealers in the beef industry, followed by a public meeting. Sinn Féin has described changes in specification and the introduction of penalties by larger retailers as ‘manipulation.' The party says the EU needs to relax its beef labelling rules and open the way to free trade across the island. The public meeting will take place in Gullane's Hotel in Ballinasloe on Friday, 11th of July at 8.30pm. Sinn Féin councillor for the Ballinasloe area Dermot Connolly says the Minister for Agriculture needs to engage on the issue.
